Having been fine-tuned to perfection, the Mafell MT55cc is a precise and sturdy piece of equipment. The T-Max Systainer format used by Mafell for the MT55cc is identical to that used by Festool, making it suitable for use with any T-Loc system, including those manufactured by Festool and Mirka. The Mafell plunge cut saw is compatible with Mafell guide rails, but also works with those from Makita, Festool, and Bosch. Whereas other brands may offer a tilt range of +45 to 0 degrees plus 1 degree undercut, Mafell gives you a full range of +48 to -1 degrees. Naturally, 90-degree joints are the norm since they create a perfect glue pocket. In comparison to its rivals, MT55cc's cutting depth of 57 mm is more than an inch deeper. When the saw is on the rail, it can still cut to a depth of 51 mm, which is sufficient for sawing 2-inch timber. A Festool or Makita saw wouldn't be up to the task, would it?
A positive stop (every 1mm on the saw's front) with a fine adjuster on the grub screw is another useful addition. Cutting depth can be adjusted on or off the rail by twisting the depth indicator. When sawing along a guide rail, the line of demarcation between cuts is as clear as the rail's edge. When cutting without a guide rail, it's common for the saw to tilt and cause problems. Most of the time, you can't see the knife's path. However, this is not the case with the Mafell MT55, which features a unique line indication on the front of the saw base that follows the blade as you tilt the saw. Mafell has designed a whole new blade changing system specifically for your ease of use.
The blade housing drops down when you push a button and raise a lever on the saw's grip. For your own protection, when the spindle is brought up, the switch will immediately become inoperable. The reason the blade being completely covered is straightforward; it allows for greater dust extraction. The dust has nowhere to go but via the space between the rails. The splinter guard can be pushed down to solve this problem as well. The scoring function on the Mafell MT55CC can be rapidly engaged with a single button press. Furthermore, it can cleanly cut exposed edges just like a stationary machine. Even with the splinter guard on, this is doable. The Mafell MT55CC has the capability of making precise, tear-free cuts.
